Reputation System
Your FarFISH reputation reflects your contributions to the ecosystem. It's primarily measured through the leaderboard, which ranks users by total rewards earned.
Current Reputation Model
Leaderboard-Based Reputation
The FarFISH leaderboard is the primary reputation indicator:
What it shows:
- Your rank among all users (e.g., #42 out of 10,000)
- Total FRH rewards earned
- Number of successful referrals
- Score progression over time
How it's calculated:
- Each 20 FRH earned = 1 leaderboard point
- Score updated instantly when you earn rewards
- Rankings recalculate automatically as scores change
Example:
- You earn 100 FRH total → Score: 5 points
- You earn 140 FRH total → Score: 7 points
- Higher score = higher rank
How Reputation is Earned
Multiple activities contribute to your reputation:
Referrals
Bringing new users to FarFISH:
- Each successful referral: +20 FRH (for you)
- Welcome bonus for new user: +20 FRH (for them)
- Both immediately reflected in leaderboard
What counts as successful:
- New user connects wallet using your referral link
- They haven't been referred before
- Not a self-referral (same wallet)
Impact on reputation: Referrals are the fastest way to climb the leaderboard. Successful community builders rise to top ranks.
Daily Rewards
Consistent engagement:
- Bronze Chest: 3 FRH every 24 hours (no requirements)
- Silver Chest: 6 FRH every 24 hours (requires active NFT stake)
Claiming both daily for 30 days:
- Bronze: 90 FRH (4.5 points)
- Silver: 180 FRH (9 points)
- Total: 270 FRH (13.5 points)
Impact on reputation: Daily claims provide steady reputation growth for active users.
Staking Rewards
Locking NFTs for rewards:
- Rewards vary by NFT rarity and lock duration
- Range: 120 FRH (common, 30 days) to 7,680 FRH (legendary, 360 days)
- Claimed when staking period completes
Example:
- Stake a rare NFT for 180 days → 1,920 FRH reward
- Adds 96 points to your leaderboard score
- Significant reputation boost for long-term commitment
Impact on reputation: Staking large amounts or rare NFTs substantially increases standing.
Task Completion
Gaming and engagement activities:
- Social verification (Farcaster Mini App only)
- Platform engagement tasks
- Achievement milestones
Rewards vary by task. Some provide FRH directly, others unlock features or benefits.
Impact on reputation: Supplemental to main activities but helps round out engagement.
Reputation reflects contribution: The leaderboard rewards behaviors that grow the FarFISH ecosystem-referrals bring new users, staking shows commitment, daily claims show consistency.
Reputation Properties
Public and Transparent
Your reputation is visible to all users:
- Anyone can view the leaderboard
- Wallet addresses shown publicly
- Rankings updated in real-time
- Transaction history verifiable on blockchain
Privacy note: If you prefer anonymity, your wallet address doesn't inherently reveal your identity. But if you've linked it to other accounts, the connection may be traceable.
Persistent
Reputation persists across all FarFISH apps:
- Earn reputation in Web App → visible in Base App
- Refer someone in Mini App → leaderboard updates everywhere
- Complete tasks in any app → score accumulates universally
Cross-app reputation: Your score is tied to your wallet address, not the specific app you're using.
Non-Transferable
You cannot transfer reputation to another wallet:
- Reputation tied permanently to your wallet address
- No way to merge two wallets' reputations
- Selling/transferring wallet transfers reputation with it
Reason: Reputation should reflect genuine contribution, not purchased standing.
Cumulative
Reputation only increases, never decreases:
- FRH earned is permanent (reflected in score)
- Even if you spend/transfer FRH tokens, your leaderboard score remains
- Historical contributions always counted
Incentive: This encourages long-term participation without fear of losing progress.
Reputation = earned status: Your leaderboard position represents genuine ecosystem contribution, not financial investment or gaming of the system.
Reputation Data Sources
FarFISH reputation draws from multiple sources:
On-Chain Data
From the Base blockchain:
- NFT ownership - Which NFTs you hold and quantities
- Staking positions - Active stakes, lock durations, rewards
- Token balance - Current FRH holdings (note: different from total earned)
- Claim history - Daily chest claims recorded on-chain
Why on-chain matters: This data is immutable and verifiable. Anyone can check your on-chain activity using a block explorer.
Off-Chain Data
From FarFISH's backend:
- Leaderboard scores - Total FRH earned (displayed ranking)
- Referral relationships - Who referred whom
- Referral counts - How many successful referrals you've made
- Task completion - Gaming achievements and progress
Why off-chain: Enables instant updates without gas fees. Optimized for social features and frequent changes.
Social Data (Farcaster Mini App)
From Farcaster platform:
- Social connections - Follows, followers
- Engagement - Likes, recasts, comments
- FID (Farcaster ID) - Your Farcaster identity
How it's used: Farcaster Mini App offers social verification tasks that reward engagement on the Farcaster platform.
Verification: Server-side checks ensure tasks are genuinely completed (not self-reported).
Trust and Verification
What's Verifiable
On blockchain:
- NFT ownership → Check Basescan
- Token balance → Check Basescan
- Staking state → Query smart contracts
- Claim timestamps → Read from contracts
Trustlessly verifiable. No need to trust FarFISH's servers.
What Requires Trust
Off-chain backend:
- Leaderboard calculations (could theoretically be manipulated)
- Referral attribution (recorded in database)
- Task completion status (tracked server-side)
Trust assumption: FarFISH's backend accurately reflects user activity. In practice, leaderboard is informational and doesn't control on-chain asset distribution.
Separation of concerns: Display reputation (leaderboard) is off-chain for speed. Real value (NFTs, tokens) is on-chain for security. This means even leaderboard manipulation couldn't affect your assets.
Vision: Cross-Chain Reputation
The current reputation system operates on Base blockchain. The long-term vision extends to multiple chains.
Current Status: Base Only
What works today:
- ✅ Reputation earned on Base blockchain
- ✅ Unified across all FarFISH apps (same chain)
- ✅ On-chain verification available on Basescan
Limitation: Reputation doesn't extend to other blockchains. Your FarFISH activity on Base isn't visible on Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum, Optimism, etc.
Future Vision: Multi-Chain Reputation
Planned capabilities (not yet implemented):
Aggregated Reputation:
- Activity across multiple blockchains contributes to unified score
- Base + Ethereum + other chains = total reputation
- Cross-chain identity resolution
Portable Trust:
- Reputation recognized by other Web3 platforms
- Social graph transfers across ecosystems
- Trust scores validated cross-platform
Composable Reputation:
- Third-party apps read FarFISH reputation
- Reputation used as access control (e.g., "must have rank <100")
- Decentralized identity integration
Cross-chain reputation is a future vision: This represents FarFISH's long-term goals. Currently, all reputation activity is on Base blockchain only.
Why Cross-Chain Matters
Current problem:
- Building reputation on one chain doesn't transfer
- Each new chain = starting from zero
- Fragmented identity across networks
Cross-chain vision:
- Build once, recognized everywhere
- True multi-chain identity
- Reputation as portable credential
Challenges:
- Technical: Cross-chain data aggregation is complex
- Standardization: Requires ecosystem-wide cooperation
- Security: Must maintain trust across diverse chains
Timeline: This is a long-term vision requiring significant ecosystem development. FarFISH's current Base-focused approach establishes the foundation.
Practical Reputation Building
Strategies for Climbing the Leaderboard
High-impact activities:
Referral campaigns - 20 FRH per successful referral
- Share your link on social media
- Explain FarFISH value to friends
- Build community around your referrals
Long-term staking - Up to 7,680 FRH for legendary NFTs
- Stake highest rarity NFTs you own
- Choose longest duration you're comfortable with
- Maximize reward-to-lock-time ratio
Daily consistency - 9 FRH per day (both chests)
- Claim daily without missing days
- Maintain active stake for Silver chest
- Compounds to significant FRH over months
Balanced approach: Mix referrals (fast gains), staking (large boosts), and daily claims (consistent growth).
Reputation Milestones
Common milestones users aim for:
- First referral: Breaking into the leaderboard
- Rank <1000: Active participant status
- Rank <100: Community leader tier
- Top 10: Elite contributor recognition
No formal tiers, but users naturally categorize themselves by rank ranges.
Reputation Limitations
What Reputation Doesn't Do
Reputation is not:
- ❌ A token - You can't transfer or sell reputation directly
- ❌ Governance power - Higher rank doesn't give voting rights (currently)
- ❌ Financial reward - Leaderboard position itself doesn't pay
Reputation is:
- ✅ Social status - Recognition among community
- ✅ Historical record - Proof of contribution
- ✅ Potential utility - May unlock features in future
Display-Only Nature
Important to understand: The leaderboard is primarily informational.
What it controls:
- Your visible rank
- Social recognition
- Historical contribution record
What it doesn't control:
- Your NFT ownership (blockchain-controlled)
- Your token balance (blockchain-controlled)
- Your ability to use FarFISH features
Implication: Even if the leaderboard data is compromised, your real assets stay safe on the blockchain.
Reputation and Identity
Your reputation is tied to your wallet identity:
Changing wallets = starting over:
- New wallet address = new identity
- New leaderboard position (starting at 0)
- Previous reputation not transferable
Managing reputation:
- Choose one primary wallet for FarFISH
- Avoid switching wallets if building reputation is a goal
- Remember: Your wallet is your identity
